There are some go-to songs for themed playlists — like driving, morning, female empowerment, or raining. One of Amber Mark’s songs from her debut album 3:33am (released in 2017), called “Lose My Cool” used to be one of those essential tracks that you just couldn’t leave out of a female themed playlist for a while.
The intro starts with piano and shifts into rhythmic percussion in the verse, keeping the vibe cool yet driving and danceable. The whole song comes together perfectly — nothing too much, nothing too little. It showcases her musical sensibility that spans R&B, soul, pop, and Latin influences. Once I start listening to this song, it’s really hard to move on to another. It’s just so irresistible. And as it turns out, the songwriter and producer behind it is only Amber herself! So talented.
In October 2025, she released her 3rd album Pretty Idea. The standout disco-funk track “Let Me Love You” has been on my playlist since its release — it gives off that perfect night-drive feeling. To make things even more exciting, one of the co-writers is also behind Sabrina Carpenter’s recent mega hit “Espresso.” Another track, “Too Much” leans more toward early-2000s R&B, and there is a song collaborated with Anderson .Paak, and an angelic ballad ‘Cherry Reds‘ and many more.
Overall, the album instantly draws you in with its kaleidoscopic, genre-defying variety, all while keeping Amber Mark’s signature groove as well as impeccable taste.
ドライブ、朝な感じ、平等、雨の日用などのテーマを持ったプレイリストを作ると、それぞれのテーマに必ず入れてしまう曲がある。Amber Markが2017年にリリースしたアルバム『3:33am』の入っている“Lose My Cool”はその一つで、女性Voをテーマにしたら必ず入れていた。
曲はボーカルとピアノだけで始まり、その後リズミックなリズム隊が入りながらもクールさを保ちつつグルーヴを出し、踊れる曲になっていく。足しすぎず、引きすぎず、ちょうどいいバランスで曲が一つになっている。R&B、ソウル、ポップ、ラテンのインフルエンスまで彼女の音楽的センスを感じる一曲。一回聴き始めると次の曲に行くのに苦労するくらい中毒性のある曲だ。今になって気づいたが、この曲は彼女1人で書かれたらしい。才能のかたまり。
2025年の10月には3枚目のアルバム『Pretty Idea』をリリースした。シングルで先行リリースされたナイトドライブな雰囲気のディスコファンクな“Let Me Love You”はリリースから私のプレイリストに入っている。どうやらSabrina Carpenterの大ヒット曲’Espresso’の作曲家も参加しているらしい。他にも00年代R&Bな“Too Much”、Anderson .Paakとコラボした曲、スローバラードもあったり。
アルバム全体を通して、通奏低音的にAmber Markらしいオシャレでセンスあるグルーヴはありつつも、ジャンルに縛られない楽曲たちで楽しませてくれる。
