“Really good music is almost like a good listner“

"I like to compare making music to architecture. You’re making a frame. You’re making space, rather than filling” I'm glad I happened upon Hikaru Utada's interview on Apple Music. It was a moment that gave depth to the way I perceive music—like a third point, that creates a three dimensional form, was drawn to a flat two-dimensional surface.
This comment also resonates with a previous comment of hers: “Making music isn’t about addition, but subtraction.”
Listeners are comforted by that emptiness, and can find a place for themselves within it. It feels only natural that her music accompanies people through life.
